Un Mundo Cafe
Un Mundo Café opened on October 28th, 2006 at 801 W. Main St. in Springfield, Ohio. The vision for Un Mundo began when Diana Cuy-Castellanos
(formerly Bucey) returned to the United States after living in Guatemala for 5 years, working in Community Development.
During her
time in Guatemala, she worked with numerous coffee farmers who were ready to give up on their coffee farms due to the small amount of profit.
Diana dreamed of bringing equality and fair prices back to the coffee growers of Guatemala. Through our collaboration with the farmers
in Santa Maria de Jesus, Guatemala, this is happening. All profits made from the coffee of Santa Maria (La Armonia Hermosa), is returned
to the farmers.
As Diana dreamed of opening a café in Springfield, Ohio, she envisioned a "third-place" for the community to gather for revitalizing wholesome relationships over a quality cup of coffee. Here, gifts of art, music, hospitality, etc. are displayed as one learns about other cultures and people through our coffee, teas, and chocolates.
Today, Un Mundo is just that. We are a "third-place" for the community. We offer live music on many Friday and Saturday nights
and a great place to meet or study throughout the week. We've heard from our customers that we have the best coffee around. We offer
fair-trade coffees, teas and chocolates. Our coffees are roasted in Cincinnati and delivered within 2 days. They come from Costa Rica,
Ethiopia, New Guinea, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and Peru. We strive to bring all cultures and socio-economic backgrounds together to
learn from one another over a cup of coffee
Our Logo
The logo was designed by Angela Trego of AJT Designs (ajtdesigns@gmail.com). The cup of coffee meeting the world is exactly what Un Mundo Café is about. Here, is where coffee and the world meet.
On the logo you will see 17:22, which is taken from John 17:22: "I have given them the glory that you gave me so that they may be one as we are one." (NIV) This is our vision: to become one. We want to share the love of God from the coffee grower, to the coffee drinker and beyond. As we do this, we pray that equality will happen and we will see ourselves as ONE in the body of Christ.
